What is the best app to track breastfeeding?

The best breastfeeding tracker times each side separately, remembers which side you finished on, and lets you switch or stop without unlocking your phone. Baby Feed Timer is the dedicated option: it tells you which breast to start on and costs $9.99 once after a 7-day trial. Huckleberry and Baby Tracker by Nighp include a two-sided breastfeeding timer and a pumping log on their free plans, and Nara Baby adds a pumping timer per side and Live Activities, at $9.99 a month after its trial.

MyBaby, which we make, has a free timer per side that can run on both sides at once, shows the last side in the app, and puts the running feed on the iPhone Lock Screen with buttons to switch sides or finish. It has no pumping log on iPhone, which rules it out if you pump.

A breastfeeding timer counts minutes at the breast and cannot tell you how much milk your baby took. The usual signs that a baby is getting enough are wet and dirty diapers and weight gain, which our article on the first three days of feeding sets out with the NHS and AAP figures. Cluster feeding during a growth spurt has its own article.

MyBaby is our app, and it appears in this comparison. Every fact about every app here, ours included, comes from a public listing or the developer's own page, with the link beside it, and each app has its downside stated.

The apps, one by one

Baby Feed Timer

4.9 from 24,551 ratings, US App Store

Best dedicated breastfeeding app

Baby Feed Timer was built around nursing. Its listing describes large left and right buttons, a pause button, swapping breasts during a feed, a reminder when the next feed is due that names the breast to use, and a Lock Screen view of when the next feed is due. It also logs bottles, pumping, diapers, sleep, medicine and growth, syncs between iPhones and other phones, and has an Apple Watch app.

Better than MyBaby at: Its next-feed reminder names the breast to start on, and it has an Apple Watch app.

The catch: After 7 days it stops working until you pay $9.99, and Google Play marks the Android version as containing ads.

Nara Baby

4.9 from 24,413 ratings, US App Store

Best for nursing and pumping in one paid app

Nara Baby's breastfeeding timer tracks left and right and notes which side ended the last feed, and it has a pumping timer for each side. Its Live Activities let you start and stop tracking without unlocking your phone, and there is an Apple Watch app. After a 7-day trial it costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 once, for the whole family.

Better than MyBaby at: A pumping timer per side and an Apple Watch app.

The catch: Read-only after the trial unless someone in the family pays.

Better than MyBaby at: Pumping, caregiver sync and an Apple Watch app on the free plan.

Baby Tracker by Nighp

4.8 from 227,351 ratings, US App Store

Best free logger with a Lock Screen timer

Baby Tracker records which side you last used and the time on each breast, logs pumping sessions and amounts, shows active sessions as Live Activities, and has an Apple Watch app. Core tracking is free with ads.

Better than MyBaby at: Pumping amounts and an Apple Watch app, both free.

The catch: Ads on the free plan unless you pay $4.99 once.

Robin Baby

4.8 from 49 ratings, US App Store

Best for comparing left and right

Robin Baby's website lists a per-side nursing timer with switch and pause, pump amounts per breast or as a total, and a free weekly view of left versus right balance for nursing and pumping, with a reminder that resets on nursing or pumping. Widgets and Live Activities are Premium for new accounts.

Better than MyBaby at: A free view of left and right balance for nursing and pumping, and pump amounts per breast.

The catch: New, with 49 US ratings, and its Lock Screen timer is a Premium feature.

CubTrack

5.0 from 6 ratings, UK App Store

Best for a partner who wants to see the feed

CubTrack's breastfeeding timer remembers the last side and keeps running when your phone locks, and your partner can see a feed in progress on their phone. Expressing and a milk stash with use-by dates are part of the free plan.

Better than MyBaby at: A milk stash with use-by dates, and a pumping log, on the free plan.

The catch: The free plan keeps 30 days of history, and the app is written for UK parents.

What does MyBaby's breastfeeding timer do, and what does it lack?

MyBaby is our app, so weigh this part accordingly. Its breastfeeding timer is free on iPhone and Android. Each side has its own clock, both can run at once, and the app shows which side you last used and how long ago the last feed was. If you share the log with a partner, they see the running feed on their phone and can pause or finish it.

On iPhone the running feed sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with buttons to switch sides, pause or finish, and there is a Home Screen widget for feeds. The timer pauses itself after 2 hours if nobody stops it. On Android it runs as an ongoing notification.

MyBaby's iPhone app has no pumping log, and the Android app records pumping only as an amount per side on a nursing entry. There is no Apple Watch app, and from version 2.0 the iPhone app needs iOS 26. Inviting a second parent needs a paid plan, held by whoever sends the invitation. The invited parent then logs for free, but reports and the assistant follow each person's own plan.

On iPhone the paid plan is $2.99 a week, $49.99 a year or $79.99 once. On Android it is a monthly or annual subscription (Professional is $49.99 a year in the US) and there is no one-time purchase. The iPhone app has no ads. The Android app shows ads on the free plan.

Our facts are read from the apps' code: iPhone version 2.0 and Android version 1.5.1, on October 19, 2026.
